Adjunct Faculty Award for Excellence and Innovation in Teaching
The Adjunct Faculty Award for Excellence and Innovation in Teaching will recognize an adjunct faculty member who performs superbly in the classroom by exhibiting one or more of the following criteria: incorporating instructional technology; providing high impact learning activities; increasing student engagement; or adapting instruction to student needs. Nominees must submit a current curriculum vitae and a portfolio (up to five pages) that demonstrates the nominee’s mastery of teaching techniques that positively impact student learning. Examples of portfolio artifacts could include student/peer/chair evaluations; narrative summary of the nominee’s teaching philosophy; or innovative responsiveness to student feedback.
Bhattacharya Research Excellence Award
The Bhattacharya Research Excellence Award was established by Sanjit Bhattacharya to advance the quality of research and creative/scholarly activity at Cameron University and in Southwest Oklahoma.
Eligible nominees should be a member of the regular faculty and have been a full-time member of the Cameron University faculty for at least three years. Past recipients of the award are eligible for future awards. Research and creative/scholarly contributions during the previous two academic years will be considered consistent with the University mission, function, and Section 4.2.6.2 of the Faculty Handbook.
Faculty Award for Excellence and Innovation in Teaching
The Faculty Award for Excellence and Innovation in Teaching will recognize a Cameron University full-time faculty member who performs superbly in the classroom by exhibiting one or more of the following criteria: incorporating instructional technology; providing high impact learning activities; increasing student engagement; or adapting instruction to student needs. Nominees must submit a current curriculum vitae and a portfolio (up to five pages) that demonstrates the nominee’s mastery of teaching techniques that positively impact student learning. Examples of portfolio artifacts could include student/peer/chair evaluations; narrative summary of the nominee’s teaching philosophy; or innovative responsiveness to student feedback.
Faculty Award for Excellence in Mentoring Student Research
The Faculty Award for Excellence in Mentoring Student Research will recognize a Cameron University faculty member who has an excellent, sustained record of mentoring student research and scholarship by exhibiting one or more of the following criteria: mentoring students outside of the classroom on projects extending the course experience; peer-reviewed publications involving students; providing guidance and support needed to help students develop the skills necessary for not only research and creativity but also critical thinking and innovation. Nominees must submit a current curriculum vitae and a portfolio (up to five pages) that demonstrates the nominee’s leadership, support, and guidance in mentoring student research throughout the entirety of the project. This must include a narrative that describes how the student researchers were involved in the scholarly process and the ways in which the student(s) contributed throughout the process. Inclusion of specific examples or artifacts that demonstrate collaborative research efforts between student(s) and nominees is encouraged.
Faculty Award for Excellence in Service
The Faculty Award for Excellence in Service will recognize a Cameron University faculty member who has applied his/her professional expertise beyond the classroom to advance the university and its constituents within and beyond their position by exhibiting one or more of the following criteria: forming partnerships and collaborative relationships; demonstrating leadership in our campus/community/region; volunteering for service projects outside the typical workday; or serving the campus/community/region by sharing expertise. Nominees must submit a current curriculum vitae and a one-page summary of their work that demonstrates service exceeding the work considered to be a part of the nominee’s basic professional obligation for which faculty are normally compensated.
Hackler Award for Teaching Excellence
The Hackler Award for Teaching Excellence was established by Harold and Elizabeth Hackler to provide outstanding teachers with merit awards and grants for opportunities to enhance their professional capabilities.
Students, staff, or faculty may provide nominations for the award. Eligible nominees should be a member of the regular faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher and have been a full-time member of the Cameron University faculty for at least three years including the current year. The candidate's principal assignment during the current year and the previous two years must be teaching. Past recipients of the award are eligible for future awards.
