Platform Party Assembly
If you haven't already done so, please read the General Information webpage first which states general procedures for everyone involved in the commencement ceremony.
The following are additional or special instructions for persons included in the platform party.
|Where and When to Assemble
Presentation of Diplomas
Persons in the Platform party will receive notification of their instructions in the mail. Platform party personnel will assemble at Cameron Stadium at the center of the field no later than 7:20 p.m.
Upon the President's approval, the Processional will begin at 7:30 p.m. The Chair of Faculty Senate, Dr. Sarah Janda, will lead members of the platform party to the platform through the center of the seating area. He will stand at the front of the platform until all members of the platform party have reached their chairs, and then will advance to his seat. Faculty and candidates from the east endzone will follow.
The Commencement coordinators will assemble the platform party and give further instructions upon arrival to the platform party assembly area.
The Chair of each department will lead the department faculty and candidates across the platform. The faculty leader of each discipline will first present a card identifying the academic major to the reader at the microphone, and then conduct the candidates across the platform to receive their diplomas. Dr. Lance Janda and Ms. Cynthia Sosa will read the name cards.
Platform party members who are graduation candidates should excuse themselves and join the presentation line when they see their academic areas approach the platform. These graduation candidates should then process through the receiving line and rejoin the platform party. Please accept the direction of the Commencement assistants as they help with this process.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the President will dismiss participants. As the band plays the recessional music, the platform party will depart the platform and proceed back to their assembly area. The faculty and graduates will then follow the platform party back to assembly areas. All are then free to leave.
