Departmental Scholarships

The Department of History & Government grants tuition waiver scholarships to eligible History, Political Science, and Social Studies Education Majors at all levels. Application guidelines, eligibility requirements, and deadlines for these scholarships are listed below by degree program. In addition, the Financial Assistance Office can help you to apply for federal assistance as well as for other scholarships available to Cameron students in a variety of disciplines.

History Scholarships

Tuition Waivers

Incoming freshmen who have declared majors in History are eligible for tuition waivers from the department.  The requirement is that students have earned a 20 on the ACT or equivalent and/or have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or better.

Tuition waivers are available to continuing History majors who hold a GPA of 3.0 or above and have completed at least thirty hours at the college level.

To make an application for a tuition waiver scholarship click on the link in this sentence and follow the instructions there.  Applications received by February 1 of a given year will receive first priority consideration, though applications received by April 1 of a given year will also be considered.  Scholarship awards will be disbursed during the following academic year.

 

Political Science Scholarships

Incoming freshmen who have declared majors in Political Science are eligible for tuition waivers from the department.  The requirement is that students have earned a 20 on the ACT or equivalent and/or have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or better.

Tuition waivers are available to continuing Political Science majors who hold a GPA of 3.0 or above and have completed at least thirty hours at the college level.

Future Teachers Scholarship

In addition to tuition waivers, the university offers a Future Teachers Scholarship for up to four years through a program  funded by the state of Oklahoma.  The deadline for applications this year is April 29th.  For a scholarship application click on the link below:
