Cameron University's International Club will host the Second Annual International Banquet on Saturday, October 10 at 6:30 p.m., in the Fitness Center on the CU campus. The International Banquet is an opportunity for members of the Lawton/Fort Sill, Duncan and surrounding communities to learn about different cultures from some of CU's international students. The banquet will feature a buffet of Asian, Greek and Caribbean cuisine, as well as live entertainment provided by international students from Nepal, Hong Kong, Nigeria and the Caribbean. The International Club will also hold a silent auction throughout the night. Tickets are $20 per person, $140 for a table of 8, or $15 for students, and can be ordered by calling CU's International Student Admissions office at 580-591-8019. Proceeds will be used for an international student scholarship fund.
"Cameron's international students are enthusiastic about sharing the culture and heritage of their home countries," says Marcella Gustafson, International Students Admissions Coordinator. "The International Banquet promises to be an exciting evening of great food and cultural diversity."
CU's International Club is open to all students who want to experience international cultures. The club's mission is to encourage and achieve greater appreciation of different cultures. Members of the club make presentations about their country's heritage and culture throughout the academic year.
This fall, CU welcomes over 260 students from about 45 different countries, compared to the 1998 international enrollment of about 35 students.
