Cameron University officials announced today that preliminary reports indicate enrollment for the Summer 2009 semester is up 8.75 percent compared to a year ago. This year 2,560 students are enrolled at Cameron, compared to 2,354 at the start of the Summer 2008 term.
Jamie Glover, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management, attributes much of the growth to CU's new class schedule. "Cameron's 4+3: More Time for You at CU schedule allows students to limit their classes to four days a week if they choose or to take classes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday if that is a more convenient time for them," she says. "We realize that today's student is busy, and the new schedule provides students the flexibility they need to balance classes with work, family and even social obligations."
Under the 4+3: More Time for You at CU schedule, classes are scheduled between Monday and Thursday with an expanded weekend program. The new academic schedule increases the number of scheduling formats available, including the addition of online courses.
Although enrollment for eight-week Summer 2009 has ended, limited enrollment is still available in several workshops and four-week courses to be offered at Cameron throughout the summer. The second set of four-week classes begins on June 29. Enrollment for the Fall 2009 semester is also open.
