The Southwest Area Health Education Center (SWAHEC) at Cameron University will host a Cancer Survivorship Workshop on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. - Noon at the CETES Conference Center on the CU campus. The workshop, funded by a grant from the Lance Armstrong LIVESTRONG Foundation, is open to anyone who has been touched by cancer. There is no charge to attend.
The workshop will provide cancer survivors, family members and caregivers with a new perspective about the survivorship experience. Attendees will learn how to navigate the physical, emotional and practical challenges of treatment and survivorship, improve communication with medical professionals, utilize tools to prepare for medical appointments and gain knowledge, support and hope.
Each household attending will receive a free LIVESTRONG book.
SWAHEC, located at Cameron University, is a regional Area Health Education Center serving 23 counties in southwest Oklahoma. SWAHEC facilitates multidisciplinary and community-based health professional recruitment, education and training.
