Cameron University Professor of Music Dr. Hyunsoon Whang will be joined by violinist Lun Jiang and cellist Pegsoon Whang, members of the Utah Symphony Orchestra and the Quattro Amici String Quartet, for a trio concert of chamber music. The concert takes place on Sunday, May 3 at 3 p.m. in the University Theatre. Admission to the concert is free.
Jiang, a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and Rice University, has won numerous chamber music competitions and released several CDs. Most recently, he performed at the Martha's Vineyard Chamber Music Society with members of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra.
Pegsoon Whang, a graduate of the Curtis Institute and the Mannes College, has performed with Seoul Philharmonic, Jacksonville Symphony, and the Brandenberg Ensemble. She has concertized in France, Italy, Germany and the United States.
Hyunsoon Whang is a graduate of the Juilliard School and Indiana University. She has performed all over Asia, Europe and the United States. Whang holds Cameron University's McMahon Endowed Chair in Music. Hyunsoon and Pegsoon are sisters who have been playing together since they were children.
The program will include the "Gypsy" Trio by Haydn, "G Major Sonata" for violin and piano by Brahms and Dvorak's crowd pleasing "Dumky" Trio.
