Cameron University’s International Club will host the Third Annual International Banquet on Saturday, October 16, in the McCasland Ballroom, located in the McMahon Centennial Complex on the CU campus. The CU Pan Express will provide pre-entertainment from 6 – 6:30 PM, and dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person, $140 for a table of 8, or $15 for students, and can be ordered by calling CU’s International Student Admissions office at 580-591-8019. Proceeds will be used for an international student scholarship fund. The deadline to purchase tickets is Monday, October 11.
The International Banquet is an opportunity for members of the Lawton/Fort Sill, Duncan and surrounding communities to learn about different cultures from some of CU’s international students. The banquet will feature a buffet of Asian, Greek, German and Caribbean cuisine, as well as live entertainment provided by international students from Nepal, Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire and the Caribbean. The International Club will also hold a silent auction throughout the night. 2007 Cameron graduate Bira Vidal, a native of Brazil, will provide the keynote address.
Individuals or companies wishing to donate items for the silent auction can do so by contacting Marcella Gustafson, Coordinator of International Student Admissions, at 591-8019 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
CU’s International Club is open to all students who want to experience international cultures. The club’s mission is to encourage and achieve greater appreciation of different cultures. Members of the club make presentations about their country’s heritage and culture throughout the academic year. This fall, CU international student enrollment has grown to 322 students from 45 different countries, compared to the 1998 international enrollment of about 35 students.
