Cameron University students gear up for regional “Math Jeopardy” competition

Three Cameron University students will put their knowledge of mathematics to the test by competing in "Math Jeopardy," the annual competition held during the Texas Oklahoma Research Undergraduate Symposium (TORUS). Team International, comprised of Ryan Bao, St. Louis, MO; William Fleshman, Lawton; and Nitesh Verma, Birgunj, Nepal, will represent CU during the February 27 event at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls.

The three "Mathletes" won the honor of representing CU following two practice rounds held on the CU campus. During those sessions, they demonstrated their knowledge in a wide variety of topics related to mathematics, including categories such as "Name That Theorem," "Logic & Sets," "Triangular Points of Interest," and "Integration Techniques," among others.

A team from Cameron won the Math Jeopardy competition in 2006, a feat that Bao, Fleshman and Verma hope to duplicate.
