For the second consecutive year, the Lawton Northeast On-Line Branch Lions Club, a branch of the Lawton Northeast Lions Club, celebrated Earth Day by donating a tree to Cameron University. Cameron President Cindy Ross was joined by Allen Granger, President of the organization, Albert Johnson, Jr., CU Vice President for University Advancement, and members of the Lawton Northeast On-Line Branch Lions Club, to plant an Eastern Redbud on the north side of Cameron's Aggie Gym.
"We are grateful to the members of the Lawton Northeast On-Line Branch Lions Club for enhancing the Cameron landscape with this donation," said President Ross. "The redbud will be a beautiful addition of color to the north side of Aggie Gym. It is especially gratifying that Allen Granger and the club members once again thought of Cameron, given the devastation to the trees on campus caused by the February ice storm."
"Many of the Lawton Northeast On-Line Lions as well as our parent club, the Lawton Northeast Lions, have attended CU, graduated from CU, or have kids that are past, current or future CU students," Granger said. "We have been impressed with what Dr. Ross has done for Cameron, and this Earth Day tree donation is our way of saying ‘Thank You'."
