The Cameron University Student Wellness Center will present Aggie Health Fair 2011 on Wednesday, September 7 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. The event will take place in the McCasland Ballroom, located in the McMahon Centennial Complex, and is open to Cameron students, faculty and staff. Gift bags will be available to the first 300 Cameron students, who are also eligible for drawing prizes including an IPad, two IPod Shuffles with $25 ITune cards, two bicycles and a Kindle.
“Cameron University is committed to educating our students about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle,” says Deanice Shegog, Director. “The Student Wellness Center is happy to offer this opportunity for students, faculty and staff to learn about a variety of health and wellness programs.”
Free flu shots will be available for all Cameron students, faculty and staff, who must show a valid Cameron ID. Cholesterol testing and A1C blood sugar screening will also be offered at no charge to students; faculty and staff will pay a minimal fee. Services planned for the event include blood pressure screening, vision screening provided by Family Vision Clinic, massage therapy courtesy of Lonnie Allen and Tracy Pennington, HIV testing by RAIN of OK, chiropractic adjustments by Aaragon Chiropractic Clinic, and more.
In addition, information about a variety of health and wellness topics will be provided by Spirit of Survival, Runhers, The Breast Center, Marie Detty Youth and Family Services, Open Arms Behavioral Health, Taliaferro Mental Health Clinic, Comanche County Health Department, Pregnancy Resource Center, Skin Secrets, Health Food Center, Doctor’s MRI, General Nutrition Center, Anderson Pharmacy, Cameron University Fitness Center, Public Health Services, Race for the Cure and more.
Other booths will feature information on pet therapy, yoga, tobacco cessation, diet and nutrition, maintaining hydration and more.
The Student Wellness Center will also initiate a new Wellness Challenge – a 30-day pedometer competition. The challenge will provide a free solar pedometer and earbuds to all participants and will have two categories: CU students and CU faculty/staff.
