Cameron University received authorization to secure a consulting firm to provide professional services required for updating the university’s “Campus Master Plan – 2015” during a meeting of The University of Oklahoma, Cameron University and Rogers State University Board of Regents earlier today. Under the authorization, Cameron President Cindy Ross will initiate the process to select a consulting firm.
“In planning for the development of Cameron’s third, five-year strategic plan, several factors have prompted a decision to update ‘Campus Master Plan – 2015’,” says Ross. “Strategic planning is a vital part of Cameron’s enhanced growth and success as we continue to be the University of Choice for Southwest Oklahoma and beyond. That planning needs to align with enhancements and new developments to the university’s existing physical campus.”
Ross cites three primary factors for the update: (1) a desire to incorporate suggestions made from the successful ten-year accreditation review last November, (2) the completion of a significant number of the “Campus Master Plan – 2015” recommendations, and (3) the substantial transformation of Cameron’s Lawton campus through approximately $55 million of capital investment in the last seven years.
It is estimated that consulting fees will be $45,000 to $60,000, which will be funded from budgeted FY 2011 and FY 2012 educational and general operating funds. Dr. Matt Jenkins, Cameron professor of communication, will lead Cameron’s team in updating the university’s campus master plan.
