The Cameron/Lawton Community Band will present its Fall 2011 concert on Sunday, October 16 at 3:30 p.m. at the Cameron University Theatre. Membership in the community band includes more than 50 musicians who have previous intermediate-level performance on woodwind, brass, or percussion instruments. In addition to Cameron students, alumni and faculty, high school students from Lawton MacArthur, Lawton Eisenhower, Lawton High, Lawton Arts Academy, Duncan High School, Lawton Christian, and Elgin High School, as well as several middle school band members will be performing. Additionally, community members from the Lawton/Fort Sill area as well as Duncan, Snyder and Sterling are performing. Admission to the concert is $10 for adults and $5 for students and senior adults. Cameron University students, faculty, and staff are admitted free with proper identification.
The Cameron/Lawton Community Band is conducted by Dr. Jim Lambert, Chair, CU Department of Music and Professor of Music. The concert will feature "The Victorious First March" by Henry Fillmore and edited by Robert Foster, "Fanfare and Dance" by Nolan Schmit, "Gateway West" by John O’Reilly, "An Irish Lullaby" by Stephen Bulla, "Resonance" by Keith Foley, "Nearer My God to Thee" arranged by Luther Henderson and adapted by Calvin Custer, "Armed Forces Salute" arranged by Bob Lowden, and "Stars and Stripes Forever" by John Philip Sousa.
The Cameron/Lawton Community Band has performed more than 60 concerts over the past 36 years and presents a campus concert each semester at Cameron University.
