Cameron University’s Iota Sigma chapter of the Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society in Business has been honored with the 2011 Star Chapter Award. The Star Chapter Award provides recognition to chapters that meet or exceed national standards for chapter operations and administration. This is the second consecutive year that Cameron’s Delta Mu Delta chapter has been honored with the designation.
Chapter officers for the 2011-2012 academic years are Angela Best of Lawton, President; Carla Henry Baker of Kingston, Jamaica, Vice President; Stepheny Acholonu of Victoria Island, Nigeria, Secretary; Oluwatoyese Oyewole of Ibadan, Nigeria, Treasurer; and Tom Buchanan, Sandy Point, St. Kitts and Nevis, Student Government Representative. Faculty member Greg Treadwell serves as Faculty Advisor.
Since the Iota Sigma chapter was installed at Cameron in 2000, 317 members have been inducted. Membership is by invitation only for business students. Undergraduate students are required to have completed at least half of the course work required for a bachelor’s degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better and be in the top 20 percent of their class. Graduate students are required to have completed at least half of the course work required for the master’s degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.60 or better and be in the top 20 percent of their class.
