Cameron faculty member receives juror’s award

Cameron University faculty member Monika Linehan received one of three juror’s awards for her pastel drawing, "The Shy Girl," which was selected for inclusion in “24 Works on Paper,” a traveling exhibition produced as a collaboration between graphic of artworkIndividual Artists of Oklahoma and Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition. Juror Louise Siddons, Assistant Professor of American, Modern and Contemporary Art at Oklahoma State University and former assistant curator of works on paper at the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, presented the awards at the opening reception on July 15 at the Individual Artists of Oklahoma Gallery in Oklahoma City.

The “24 Works on Paper” exhibition features 24 artists from eight Oklahoma cities. All artworks are created on paper and include media such as printmaking, drawing, painting and photography. The exhibition will run through August 5 at the IAO Gallery. It will then travel to seven additional locations throughout Oklahoma over the course of the next year: Northern Oklahoma College, Eleanor Hays Art Gallery, Tonkawa; Rose State College, Midwest City; East Central University, Shirley Pogue Art Gallery, Ada; Tulsa Artists’ Coalition, Tulsa; Leslie Powell Foundation and Gallery, Lawton; Oklahoma State University, Gardiner Art Gallery, Stillwater; and Redlands Community College, El Reno.

Linehan, an Associate Professor of Art, joined the Cameron staff in August 2004. She teaches Advanced Drawing, Figure Drawing and all levels of Painting.
