Cameron University has established the Jean Orr Endowed Scholarship in Athletics, established by Jerry Orr, Lawton, in honor of his late wife. Jean Orr was a former Cameron student and an avid supporter of Cameron University athletics.
“Jean Orr was a regular at Cameron athletic events, supporting the Aggies with her Cameron spirit whether it was a basketball, baseball, softball or volleyball game,” says Albert Johnson, Jr., Vice President for University Advancement. “We are grateful to Jerry Orr and their children, Stacey Bond and Patrick Orr, for endowing this scholarship in her memory.”
The late Mrs. Orr became an avid Aggie supporter after attending a few basketball games with her husband. Although she enjoyed the action on the court, her true interest was in Cameron’s student athletes. Her enthusiastic support and passion for the Aggie athletes became staples during home games.
The scholarship is designed for Cameron athletes who have completed their athletic eligibility and who are still working on degree completion. Priority will be given to students studying in the areas of history, business and English.
Endowed scholarships managed by the Cameron University Foundation provide financial assistance to deserving students in perpetuity. To learn more about establishing an endowment, contact the Office of University Advancement at 580-581-2999.
