Cameron University celebrated Earth Day with a tree planting, thanks to a donation from the Lawton Northeast On-Line Branch Lions Club, a branch of the Lawton Northeast Lions Club. This marks the fourth consecutive year the group has donated a tree to the university. Cameron Vice President for Business and Finance Glen Pinkston was joined by Allen Granger, president of the Lawton Northeast On-Line Branch Lions Club, and Ealmer Klippel, Oklahoma Lions District 3-L Governor, to plant an Eastern Redbud on the south side of Cameron’s Aggie Gym. Also in attendance were Joe Wotring, vice president of the club, and several other club members.
"Our Lions Club is very happy to celebrate Earth Day with Cameron University,” Granger said. “We are proud to do our small part to assist in improving the campus. Almost all of our club members have ties to Cameron, and we are all proud of the improvements that have taken place at Cameron in recent years."
The Lawton Northeast On-Line Branch Lions Club established their tradition of giving trees to Cameron in 2009 with two Red Oaks. In 2010 and 2011, they contributed Eastern Redbuds.
