Cameron University students earn broadcast awards

Cameron University broadcast students have won five awards in the 22nd annual student competition sponsored by the Oklahoma Broadcast Education Association.  Industry professionals from around the state judged the competition, which features student work from 17 state universities and colleges.

“Once again, Cameron students presented a strong group of entries,” says Steve Adams, Assistant Professor of Communication. Adams currently serves as OBEA President. “Cameron prides itself on the countless radio/television students who have gone on to professional careers in the fields of news, sports and entertainment. With their winning entries, this year’s award-winners are carrying on the quality work produced by student journalists at Cameron.”

Students honored for their work are:

Garden City, Kans.:  
Mitch Watson, 1st place, Radio Hard News Story / 3rd place, Radio Feature News Story

Lawton:                  

Jereme Cobb, 3rd place, Television Magazine (with Mikaela Emmells-Greene)

Miranda Magallanes, 3rd place, Radio Entertainment

Colton Rowe, 1st place, Television Entertainment       

Plaistow, N.H.:         

Mikaela Emmells-Greene, 3rd place, Television Magazine (with Jereme Cobb)

The competition is limited to student work done in the classroom or on campus media outlets. Students will receive their awards at the annual student day sponsored by the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters  held at the Oklahoma History Center on March 8th
