Cameron University and Comanche County Memorial Hospital team up to present Technicolor 5K Run benefitting Children’s Starlight Fund

Cameron University and Comanche County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) are teaming up for the Technicolor 5K Run, an ‘80s-themed, non-timed 3.1 mile run on Saturday, May 4. During the fun-filled run, participants will be “colorized” with bursts of colored powder and liquid. The TechniColor 5K will start at the Cameron University Stadium parking lot. Registration is $15 for students and $30 for adults through April 28. From April 29 through May 4, adult registration is $35. Proceeds will benefit CCMH’s Children’s Starlight Fund.  To register, go to http://www.active.com/running/lawton-ok/running-event---technicolor-run-2013 or pick up a registration form at Cameron’s Aggie Rec Center or CCMH’s Community Relations Office.

Participants should wear a white shirt which will be transformed into a multi-colored work of art by the time they reach the finish line, thanks to numerous “party stations” throughout the course where runners will be doused with color. Colored materials used to “decorate” runners are non-toxic and gluten-free. Most of the color should wash out of clothes and running shoes after the event.

Each registrant will receive an official Technicolor 5K t-shirt, protective glasses and a bandana which they can use to cover their mouth or hair. It is recommended that participants bring towels so they can “dust off” after the race and protect the interior of their vehicle on the way home.

Race packets can be picked up on Friday, May 3, at the Cameron University McMahon Centennial Complex (MCC) from Noon to 7 p.m. Registrants are invited to attend a free outdoor movie shown on the grounds of the MCC at 8 p.m. that night.

Volunteers are also need to assist with the event on May 4. To volunteer, call 580-585-5406.

The Technicolor 5K is part of the Fitness in Action Series, sponsored by Fit Kids of Southwest Oklahoma.

The Children's Starlight Fund was established in 2005 by the Comanche County Memorial Hospital Foundation to provide an ongoing source of funding for the continual enhancement of pediatric services. It serves nearly 800 children each year.
