Cameron University to host Oklahoma Teacher of the Year Elaine Hutchison

The Cameron University Department of Education is pleased to present Elaine Hutchison, 2013 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year, on Monday, April 1 at 11 a.m. in the CETES Conference Center. The presentation is open to the public at no charge.

“A teacher’s enthusiasm ignites greatness!” Hutchison says. “If we want our students to be excited about learning, they must feed on our passion. We must work as though our daily contributions are what make or break our students’ success.”

Hutchison will discuss her classroom experiences and will speak about her (HT)6  teaching methodology. The latter will cover aspects of teaching that she believes are vital to success in the classroom: High Tech, High Touch, Hands-on Techniques, Higher Level Thinking Skills, Habitual Thankfulness and Heroic Teachers.

A National Board Certified Teacher with 19 years of classroom experience, Hutchison currently teaches mathematics at Fairview High School. She is also a calculus professor at the Oklahoma School of Science and Math Regional Center in Fairview.
