Cameron University Professor of Art Katherine Liontas-Warren will have a solo art exhibit at Paseo Originals Art Gallery in Oklahoma City, kicking off with an opening reception on Friday, November 1. The exhibition, which will feature 27 of Liontas-Warren’s original paintings and drawings, will run through November 30. Paseo Originals Art Gallery is located at 2920 Paseo Street in Oklahoma City’s Paseo Art District.
“Although art may be ephemeral, I love creating it, and each work is a self-discovering fulfillment that continues to change and grow every day of my life,” Liontas-Warren writes in her artist’s statement for the exhibition.
Liontas-Warren joined the Cameron faculty in 1984. She teaches drawing, watercolor, and printmaking. She has been honored with the Bhattacharya Research Excellence Award and with induction into the the Cameron University Alumni Association Faculty Hall of Fame. In addition, she has been honored as Artist of the Year by the Paseo Art Association and the Artist and Educator of the Year by the Lawton Arts and Humanities Council.
Her work has been exhibited in more than 350 national solo, invitational and juried competitive exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad, and Liontas-Warren has received numerous purchase and juried awards. Her prints and drawings are in permanent collections in museums and institutions throughout the nation, including Austin Peay University, Arkansas Art Center, Museum of Texas Tech University: The Artist Printmaker Research Collection, The Wichita Falls Museum of Art at Midwestern State University, Oklahoma State University, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, University of Colorado, University of North Dakota, Oklahoma Art Institute: Quartz Mountain Lodge, Del Mar College, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Whitman College, Butler Community College, University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, Leslie Powell Gallery, Milwaukee Museum of Art, Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art, and Nicolls State University.
Liontas-Warren has juried the Oklahoma Young Talent Statewide competition on three occasions and has been featured in American Artist Magazine. She has led workshops on drawing and printmaking at numerous universities, museums and institutes, including drawing workshops at the Oklahoma Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain for public school educators.
