The Cameron University Library will host Oklahoma Poet Laureate Nathan Brown, who will share his poetry on Thursday, September 12 at 7 p.m. in the CU Library. The event is made possible through the Oklahoma Humanities Council and is open to the public at no charge.
Brown is a distinguished musician photographer, and award winning poet. He was appointed by Governor Mary Fallin as Oklahoma Poet Laureate for 2013-2014. Brown is the author of eight books, including “Two Tables Over,” winner of the 2009 Oklahoma Book Award for Poetry. His latest book is “Karma Crisis,” released in 2012.
A resident of Norman, Brown has also worked as a professional songwriter and musician in and around Oklahoma City, Nashville and Austin. He has recorded five albums.
Brown holds an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Creative and Professional Writing from the University of Oklahoma. He currently teaches History of the Arts and Humanities courses for the Liberal Studies Department at the University of Oklahoma, as well as Introduction to Songwriting at Austin Community College.
