Artwork by Cameron University students Ashley Brown, Manda Shae Dickinson and Amanda Lenhardt has been accepted for Biting the Apple 2014: Man Made, sponsored by Individual Artists of Oklahoma. The art exhibit is part of IAO’s annual erotic arts show which includes live musical entertainment. Biting the Apple 2014 takes place from May 2-3 at IAO, located at 706 W. Sheridan in Oklahoma City.
Brown, Dickinson and Lenhardt submitted works in keeping with the show’s 2014 theme: Man Made. According to IAO, the theme showcases not only the male but also the ideas, roles, augmentations, formations and expectations man can create. All created their submissions during printmaking or watercolor classes with Katherine Liontas-Warren, professor of art.
“It is always gratifying when artwork created by Cameron students is accepted for exhibition,” says Liontas-Warren. “Biting The Apple provides an outlet for provocative artwork that may not be suitable for some mainstream exhibitions. In creating art appropriate for this type of exhibit, our students must learn to apply critical thinking skills to their creativity to ensure the end result is art that is worthy of exhibition, purchase and review.”
