The Cameron University Speech and Debate team continued its competition season at the Sweetheart Swing Invitational at Norman in mid-February, facing teams from 12 universities including the University of Oklahoma, The University of Texas, and Kansas State University. Cameron’s competitors brought home the first place trophy for the Oklahoma school sweepstakes and also finished second in Lincoln Douglas sweepstakes as well as third in NPDA sweepstakes.
Danny McQuarters and Nick Pasternak, both of Kansas City, Mo., took first place in NPDA debate, claiming the tournament championship. McQuarters reached the final four round of Lincoln Douglas debate and was honored with the second place speaker award.

The team now heads to the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Forensic Association’s State Tournament.
