Cameron University Homecoming 2018 to feature variety of activities for alumni and community members

Cameron University’s 2018 Homecoming celebration, “An Aggie Fairytale,” will offer alumni, friends and supporters a multitude of opportunities to gather on the CU campus. On Friday, February 9, and Saturday, February 10, alumni and visitors can experience a variety of Cameron homecoming traditions, including the Homecoming Chuck Wagon Cook-out and Tailgate Party, men’s and women’s basketball games, the ninth annual Aggie Family Fun Run, presentation of the annual Cameron University Alumni Association Awards, the annual Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Family Fun in the Aggie Rec Center (ARC) and more.  Aggie Homecoming activities kick off on Monday, February 5 with a variety of activities and events for CU students. Activities geared toward CU alumni and supporters are as follows:

Friday, February 9

10 a.m. – 5 p.m. |  Homecoming Hub (Welcome), McMahon Centennial Complex Lobby
A one-stop shop for campus tours, homecoming details and general information.

5:30 p.m. | Golf Cart Parade, Bentley Gardens
Experience homecoming excitement and enjoy a parade of golf cart floats designed by CU students as they make their way through campus and around Bentley Gardens. Don’t miss this colorful and vibrant procession!

7:30 p.m. | Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Reception, McCasland Ballroom, McMahon Centennial Complex

Celebrate the induction of the 2018 Class into the Cameron Athletics Hall of Fame, honoring some of Cameron’s greatest sports legends! Open to the public at no charge.

6 -8 p.m. | Family Fun in the REC, Aggie Rec Center

Bring the kids for a family fun time! Activities for the whole family include a chalking contest and a coloring contest. Grab a basketball and try your skills on the court, inspire a healthy lifestyle by taking a fitness class, or enjoy some swim time in the pool.

7:30 p.m. | CUAA Happy Hour and PLUS Reunion, Backporch Drafthouse, 5762-6070 NW Cache Road
Mix and mingle with Cameron alumni, former students, and community supporters. This come-and-go event will provide a great opportunity to reconnect, laugh, and reminisce about your Cameron days.

8:30 p.m. | Bonfire and Pep Rally, South of Cameron Village
Cameron’s campus will come aglow as alumni, students, community members, faculty and staff unite for a bonfire and pep rally. Cheer on the Aggie basketball teams and 2018 Homecoming King and Queen candidates.

Saturday, February 10

8 a.m. – 3 p.m. | Homecoming Hub (Welcome), McMahon Centennial Complex Lobby
A one-stop shop for campus tours, homecoming details and general information.

9 a.m. | Aggie Family Fun Run, McMahon Centennial Complex Lobby
Participants will start the morning with a quick run, jog or even a stroll across the Aggie Mile. No registration required!

9:30 a.m. | Aggie Family Coffee/Breakfast, McMahon Centennial Complex Lobby

Join alumni and community members for a coffee and build-your-own oatmeal bar.

10:30 a.m. | Army ROTC Reunion, Burch Hall
Join the George D. Keathley Department of Military Science for a reunion of former members of the Comanche Battalion, Cameron’s award-winning Army ROTC unit.

10:30 a.m. | Homecoming Games and Activities, Bentley Gardens

Alumni and Students meet and play together with fairytale games and more.

12:30 p.m. | Chuck Wagon Cook-out and Tailgate Party, Bentley Gardens/McMahon Living Center Lawn (New location)

Experience one of Cameron’s most popular homecoming traditions! Meet up with old friends, tailgate, , enjoy live music by Dani Carson, and prepare to cheer Aggie athletics to victory. Enjoy free food while it lasts.

2 p.m. and 4 p.m. | Aggie Basketball vs UT-Permian Basin, Aggie Gym
Find out who will be named Homecoming King and Queen and join Ole Kim in cheering the Aggies on to victory!

7 p.m. | CUAA Awards Dinner, McCasland Ballroom, McMahon Centennial Complex

The Cameron University Alumni Awards presents numerous honors:Distinguished Alumni, Outstanding Young Alumni, Faculty Hall of Fame and Aggie of Tomorrow.
