Employers from throughout Southwest Oklahoma are invited to Cameron University’s Job Shadow Meet, Greet & Network event, which will feature a panel discussion about the benefits of job shadowing and interning. The event is set for Thursday, April 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the CETES Conference Center. Following the panel discussion, which will feature local employers and CU students, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with Cameron students to discuss job shadowing and internships. For more information and to register, visit www.cameron.edu/jobshadow or call 580-581-2209.
Students are advised to dress appropriately and to bring multiple copies of his/her resume.
“When area businesses offer job shadowing and internships to Cameron students, it’s a win-win for all,” says Paula Merrifield, CU Career Services Coordinator. “Employers have the opportunity to mentor students, and students enjoy a first-hand experience in a real-world workplace. It’s not unusual for employers to offer full or part-time positions to CU students following an internship.” \
Representatives from the City of Lawton, Comanche County Memorial Hospital and the Jim Taliaferro Community Mental Health Center will share the benefits of utilizing CU students in internships and job shadowing, while CU student Ryan Christie will present the student’s perspective on how such opportunities are beneficial.
