Cameron University is dedicated to creating a safe, secure environment for our students, faculty, and staff, and is consistently rated as one of the safest campuses in the nation.
Outdoor emergency call boxes are available across campus, and Public Safety officers regularly patrol the campus grounds and are on duty 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The office of Public Safety offers an escort service and also give rides to people after dark to their cars or housing areas close to the campus. They also open locked car doors and can help with dead car batteries.
In order to discourage theft, you can help by encouraging your son or daughter to label their property, and to keep records of serial numbers to computers and other expensive items.
Campus Police officers receive law enforcement training that is equivalent to that received by police statewide, are equipped to handle a wide array of situations, and train regularly with local and state law enforcement agencies.
In addition to outstanding on campus security features, the university offers an emergency communication system allowing the university to communicate with students efficiently in the event timely notice is required. Students have the ability to enter multiple telephone numbers, email addresses and a text messaging number through which to receive emergency messages. Encourage your son or daughter to update their emergency contact information by logging into their AggieAccess account at https://aggieaccess.cameron.edu.
The Office of Public Safety is located on the first floor of South Shepler or contact them at (580) 581-2911.
