Department Scholarships

Criteria for Scholarships or Tuition Waivers for the Department of Physical Sciences at Cameron University.

The scholarship application, which is provide by and obtained from the Department of Physical Sciences, must be completed by the student and submitted no later than 5:00 pm on March 7, 2014.  The instructions are as follows: 

 

a.    To be eligible for a Physical Sciences Scholarship, you must be a declared major either in Chemistry or Physics. 

b.    Physical Sciences Scholarship recipients must enroll in at least one course per semester offered by the Department of Physical Sciences.

c.    For persons applying with less than 28 credit hours (a Freshman), an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher is required.  Persons receiving awards in this category must maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 for the first semester of the scholarship to receive the scholarship for the second semester.

d.    Persons applying with 28 hours or more, but less than 60 credit hours (a Sophomore) must have an overall GPA of 2.75 or more.  Persons receiving awards in this category must maintain an overall GPA of 2.75 for the first semester of the scholarship to receive the scholarship for the second semester.

e.    Persons applying with 60 hours or more must have an overall GPA of 3.00 or higher.  Persons receiving awards in this category must maintain an overall GPA of 3.00 for the first semester of the scholarship to receive the scholarship for the second semester.  

 

The student then signs the application indicating that he/she has read and fully understands the conditions of the scholarship.

 

There is a note after the signatory line which states:  If, for some reason, you do not meet all the criteria above, but wish to apply for this scholarship, state in your own words the reasons you feel you should be considered eligible for a scholarship from this department.
