Graduation

Cameron University posts degrees three times a year:  May, July and December.

A degree is not automatically awarded when degree requirements are met.  Each candidate must submit an application for graduation to the Registrar's Office the semester before they plan to graduate.

Undergraduate and graduate students can apply for graduation by visiting the Registrar's office or filling out the three forms provided below.  Please notice that there are separate applications for graduate and undergraduate students.

There is an application for graduation fee of $15 which must be paid to the cashier once the graduation application has been submitted. The fee may be paid in person by visiting the One-Stop Office located on the first floor of the McMahon Centennial Complex.  If a student cannot pay in person, they may call the Business Office at (580) 581-2227 and pay over with phone with a valid credit card.

Once all of the required documents have been submitted, the Registrar's Office will begin the degree check process.  Results will be mailed to the student at the local address given at time of application. There is typically a 6-8 week turnaround for a student to receive their final results of the degree check.

Commencement is conducted in May of each year. All undergraduate and graduate students who have completed graduation requirements the prior December, or who expect to complete graduation requirements in May, July or upcoming December are eligible to participate in the Commencement ceremony. Students may visit the Commencement website for further details regarding the ceremony.

The Hooding ceremony is available for graduate students who are eligible for graduation.  Please refer to the graduate university catalog for specific hooding requirements. Students may visit the Hooding website for further details regarding the ceremony.

Information on caps, gowns and announcements will be sent to graduates in March. There will be a Graduation Fair on March 31, 2014 in the McCasland Ballroom of the McMahon Centennial Complex.  Students may consider this as a one-stop location that allows them to apply for graduation, purchase graduation regalia, join the Alumni Association and visit with graduate studies. If students cannot attend, items may still be purchased through the Cameron University Bookstore prior to the commencement ceremony.

In April, the Registrar's Office will send the Graduation Times Newsletter to graduates with information pertaining to the commencement exercise.

At the end of each semester an audit of each degree check is conducted and if all requirements have been completed, a degree is awarded. If the audit shows deficiencies in completing degree requirements, a letter is sent to the student identifying the deficiencies.  Diplomas are mailed within 6-8 weeks of the end of the semester.
