  1. Students will demonstrate a high level of proficiency in the target language, understand the linguistic system of the target language, and understand the differences between the target language and other languages. 
  2. Students will understand the relationship between language and culture, and will be able to integrate cultural and cross-disciplinary perspectives into teaching.
  3. Students will demonstrate a high understanding of language acquisition at various developmental levels and will be able to adjust instruction accordingly.
  4. Students will demonstrate an understanding of the Standards of Foreign Language Learning and use those standards to inform their teaching.
  5. Students will demonstrate knowledge of assessment practices, will be able to interpret the results to students and other stakeholders, and will be able to use the results to adjust instruction accordingly.
  6. Students will become familiar with the different professional development organizations and programs available to them and will serve as advocates for foreign language learning.
