COVID-19

General Information

COVID-19, also known as coronavirus, has been classified by the World Health Organization as a global pandemic. Worldwide, cases now number in the millions, and there confirmed cases in every state in the U.S., as well as in every county in Oklahoma. The Oklahoma State Department of Health and the Comanche County Health Department are constantly monitoring the situation.

What Cameron University is Doing

Cameron University continues to monitor the COVID-19 outbreak for its potential impact on our students and staff and take action to mitigate spread of the virus. The Comanche County Health Department and the Oklahoma State Health Department continue to be helpful with planning assistance and timely information. CU took action to minimize the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic at its campuses in Lawton and Duncan by implementing remote instruction for the latter half of the spring semester. Enrollment is open for the fall semester, with instruction offered in a variety of in-person and virtual formats to allow students to study safely in the manner they most prefer. If the university’s operational status changes significantly, students and employees will be notified through the campus Emergency Communication System. Less significant changes will be distributed through campus email.

We encourage our students and employees to implement social distancing, wear a mask and engage in good health practices to minimize the chance of illness. In addition, we strongly encourage both Cameron students and employees to check with their health care providers, state health authorities and the Centers for Disease Control for current information on the COVID-19 pandemic. Check this web page, as well as your campus email account, regularly in order to learn about possible changes to the course schedule.
