Campus operations update for fall 2020
- October 12, 2020
Thanks to the efforts of faculty, staff and students, Cameron University remains operational and functional through the first nine weeks of the fall semester. As of today, the Cameron service area has been spared the outbreaks, spikes, and hospitalization rates faced by many other regions of Oklahoma and the nation. CU administrators do not wish to take health and safety for granted, nor do they wish to reduce vigilance.
Until superseded, the university will continue its current operational status and facility access policies, and plans to adhere to its published academic calendar and holiday schedule through the remainder of the 2020-2021 academic year.
Cameron University appreciates faculty and staff who may be planning and executing extracurricular and co-curricular events for CU students and community while minimizing health and safety risks, because structured activities are more likely to lead to positive outcomes than other alternatives. Creative intramural options, outdoor concerts and shows, physically distant theatre productions, virtual speakers and panel discussions and more have allowed a collegiate experience for all Aggies, even in the midst of a pandemic.
Cameron will continue to adhere to state executive orders and local ordinances as it monitors local conditions and lessons learned within Oklahoma, the region, and Lawton. As more and more higher education institutions have returned to school, the university has also gained access to significant sources of information about the effectiveness of different operational strategies. CU will make operational adjustments as necessary.
The most current information about new guidance, new requirements, the virus and our responses may be found on Cameron University’s COVID-19 page. The site includes copies of past correspondence and campus actions associated with the university’s pandemic response. Students and employees should continue to check this website, as well as their campus email accounts, for updates.
