Teachers encouraged to attend virtual CU Become a Reading Specialist to learn about additional certification


Certified teachers who are interested in earning an additional qualification to become a reading specialist are encouraged to attend “CU Become a Reading Specialist,” a virtual workshop slated for Tuesday, April 11, at 5:30 p.m. This free, specialized information session, presented by the Cameron University Department of Education, will cover the admission standards and curriculum for earning a Masters of Education degree in Reading.


Interested in becoming a mental health professional? CU Be a Therapist informational session has the answer


Interested in entering the challenging yet rewarding field of mental health? Cameron University’s CU Be a Therapist, a virtual information session, will present information on how a Master of Arts in Mental Health degree can lead to licensure as a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist (LMFT) or a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) on Tuesday, April 4 from 5 to 7 p.m.



Cameron University congratulates Fall 2022 graduates


Cameron University is pleased to congratulate the students who completed graduation requirements at the end of the Fall 2022 semester. Fall graduates are eligible to participate in graduation ceremonies at the end of the spring semester. The 2023 Commencement is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 5, at Cameron Stadium.

John F. Kennedy once said, “Philanthropy, charity, giving voluntarily and freely … call it what you like, but it is truly a jewel of an American tradition.” Taking that to heart, the McCasland Foundation Ballroom at Cameron University was filled with shimmering “jewels” recently in the way of donors whose generosity has resulted in endowed scholarships and endowed faculty positions that pave the way for Cameron students and faculty to pursue their academic dreams.

Individuals from all walks of life who want to enter the teaching profession are encouraged to attend “CU Become a Teacher,” a virtual workshop that will present the multiple pathways to becoming a certified teacher. The Zoom presentation will take place on Thursday, April 6, at 5:30 p.m. and will offer information to those who have a college degree, those who have earned college credit but have yet to earn a degree, and those who have yet to earn college credit.

Tree planting gives biology students first hand knowledge


When Cameron University added three Arizona cypress trees to campus grounds recently, students of Dr. Mike Husak’s Principles of Biology 2 and Patrick McAnerney’s Plants and Culture classes were on-hand to examine the specimens and learn about how this particular species is suited for the southwest Oklahoma climate.
