Job seekers, take note! Cameron University’s Red River Career Expo will offer residents of southwest Oklahoma the opportunity to explore employment opportunities on Thursday, March 9. The event takes place from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Aggie Rec Center, located on the south side of the Cameron campus.
Award-winning composer, arranger and trumpeter Doug Beach will headline the 2023 Cameron University Jazz Festival, slated for Tuesday, March 7, in the University Theatre. Beach will join the CU Jazz Ensemble and the Lawton Jazz Orchestra for an evening of original compositions as well as jazz standards. The Aggie Jazz Academy, an ensemble composed of students from Cache High School, Lawton High School and Eisenhower High School.
The Cameron University Department of Art, Music and Theatre Arts is pleased to announce the winners of its fourth annual Student Art Competition. The honorees were selected by CU alumnus B.C. Gilbert, a sculptor, painter, printmaker and educator.
Music lovers from throughout southwest Oklahoma won’t want to miss “Song and Dance,” a joint concert featuring the Cameron/Lawton Community Band and the Cameron/Lawton Community Civic Chorus. The musical celebration is scheduled for Sunday, March 5, at 3 p.m. in the University Theatre.
Cameron University will hold graduation fairs at both the main Lawton campus as well as at CU-Duncan to assist students who plan to participate in spring Commencement.
Cameron University professor Hyunsoon Whang will present “Beethoven Sonata Cycle 6,” the sixth in a series of piano recitals in which she performs select Beethoven sonatas. The recital is set for Thursday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the McCutcheon Recital Hall.
Cameron University’s theatre program will conduct auditions for its next production, “SpongeBob SquarePants, The Musical,” on Monday, February 27, and Tuesday, February 28, at 7 p.m. Auditions will take place in the University Theatre.
Those who love classical music won’t want to miss the Cameron University Civic Symphony, an ensemble comprised of community members and CU students. The ensemble will present a concert of classic music in the McCutcheon Recital Hall on Tuesday, February 28, at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.
The Cameron University Department of Art, Music, and Theatre Arts will continue its 2022-2023 “Monster of a Season” with “She Kills Monsters” by Qui Nguyen. The production will be presented in the University Theatre from Thursday, February 23, through Sunday, February 26. The curtain goes up on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the University Theatre.
