Administrative offices at Cameron University will be closed for the holiday season beginning Monday, December 20, and will reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, January 3, 2022. Classes for the Spring 2022 semester will begin on Monday, January 10.
Renee Roach, assistant registrar at Cameron University, will become the university’s registrar in January upon the retirement of Linda Phillips. The appointment was approved by the University of Oklahoma, Cameron University, and Rogers State University Board of Regents on Thursday.
Cameron University has proposed room and board rates for the 2022-23 academic year in addition to reducing its online course fee. The rates were approved Thursday by the Board of Regents for the University of Oklahoma, Cameron University and Rogers State. The fee reduction recommendation will be forwarded to the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education for final approval. If approved, the changes will go into effect at the start of the Fall 2022 semester.
Giving Tuesday was a success for the Cameron University Foundation, which exceeded its $6,000 goal to benefit the Aggie Fund. The Aggie Fund is dedicated to ensuring all students have the opportunity to achieve a Cameron education. Helping students succeed through the Aggie Fund also means keeping facilities up to date, providing students with immersive, hands-on opportunities in their fields, and responding to the needs of non-traditional students to aid in occupational shortages affecting the nation.
Cameron University’s renovated library will be renamed the Eugene D. McMahon Library in recognition of the significant contribution by the McMahon Foundation for this project and for more than $20 million in support of an ever-growing number of Cameron University initiatives. The University of Oklahoma, Cameron University, and Rogers State University Board of Regents officially approved the recommendation from CU President John McArthur on Thursday.
One of the oldest holiday traditions in southwest Oklahoma returns to the stage as the Cameron University/Lawton Civic Chorus joins the Lawton Schubert Music Club and Fort Sill's New Post Chapel to present Handel’s “Messiah” on Saturday, December 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the McMahon Auditorium. Admission is free. Attendees are encouraged to wear facial coverings and to be aware of social distancing.
Cameron University will host tree lighting ceremonies at both its Lawton and Duncan campuses to herald the start of the holiday season. On Wednesday, December 1, festivities are scheduled at the Lawton campus beginning at 6 p.m. in Bentley Gardens. Cameron University-Duncan’s celebration will take place on Thursday, December 2, starting at 6 p.m. Both events are open to the public at no charge.
Cameron University invites residents of Duncan and the surrounding area to attend the CU-Duncan tree lighting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 2. The event takes place at CU-Duncan, 3100 W. Bois D’Arc Ave. and is open to the public at no charge.
On Giving Tuesday, the global day of giving, the Cameron University Foundation has set a goal of reaching $6,000 in gifts from at least 100 donors. Giving Tuesday, which rallies people around the world to tap into the power of human connection and strengthen communities, takes place on Tuesday, November 30. All gifts received that day will be earmarked for the Aggie Fund, which provides students with scholarships, provides faculty support and helps to enhance campus facilities to provide better learning opportunities.
