Cameron University’s annual Commencement will take place in two ceremonies, Friday, May 7, and Saturday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m. at Cameron Stadium. CU alumnus Lonny Morrison will deliver the Commencement address at both ceremonies. Cameron officials encourage graduates, their families and friends, and all visitors to arrive at least 30 minutes early to facilitate a seamless entry into the stadium. Gates open at 6 p.m. Ample parking is available on campus.
Two Cameron University students have earned membership in Phi Alpha Theta, the national honor society in history. Lousinda Dupuy and James Mills, both of Lawton, have met the membership requirements to join the organization.
Eight students from the Cameron University Department of Psychology have earned membership in Psi Chi, the international honor society in psychology. Psi Chi’s mission is to recognize and promote excellence in the science and application of psychology. Membership is open to students who are majoring or minoring in psychology.
The Cameron University Department of Mathematical Sciences is pleased to announce the acceptance of new members into the university’s chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon (PME). PME is dedicated to the promotion of mathematics and recognition of students who successfully pursue mathematical understanding. Cameron's chapter, the third to be established in Oklahoma, was founded in 1979.
Cameron University students Autumn Collins, Summerville, S.C.; Billy Copeland, Duncan; Payton Fremin, Walters; and Paul Long, Altus; have been accepted into Alpha Phi Sigma, the international honor society for criminal justice that recognizes academic excellence of undergraduate and graduate students of criminal justice.
Cameron University’s Iota Sigma chapter of the Delta Mu Delta (DMD) International Honor Society in Business welcome 13 new members this spring. Delta Mu Delta recognizes and encourages academic excellence to create a DMD community that fosters the well-being of its individual members and the business community through lifetime membership. Dr. Greg Treadwell serves as faculty advisor to the chapter.
Cameron University celebrated Earth Day with members of the Lawton Northeast On-Line Branch Lions Club, who donated an Eastern Redbud to the university. This marks the 12th consecutive year the group has donated a tree to Cameron. The tree was planted on the north side of Aggie Gym, joining the club’s previously donated Eastern Redbuds, which bring brilliant pops of color each March.
Cameron University recently hosted the Southwest Area FFA Speech Contest, attracting contestants from throughout the region as they vied for a spot in the state contest. Junior high and high school students spoke on 11 different categories. Certificates were awarded to the top five speakers in each category, with the top two speakers in each category qualify for the state FFA Speech Contest.
The Cameron University Department of Business is pleased to announce the student recipients of departmental awards, which were presented during a virtual ceremony on April 19. Students from each of the department’s degree programs – Associate in Science in Business (AS), Bachelor of Accounting (BACC), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership (ORGL), Master of Science in Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) – were selected, as well as an award honoring the top research student in the department
