Honor Societies

and Scholars

Cameron University acknowledges the academic achievements of our faculty, staff and students. There are many national and international honor societies, as well as many other scholarship programs that celebrate scholarly accomplishment on our campus.

We acknowledge Cameron students who participate in  distinguished scholarship programs:

Academic Excellence Scholars 

Cameron University provides these scholarships to students based on outstanding ACT/SAT scores and high school GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Academic Merit Scholars

Cameron University provides these scholarships to students based on outstanding ACT/SAT scores and high school GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Academic Scholars

The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education Academic Scholars Program was created and funded by the Oklahoma Legislature as an incentive for students of high academic ability to attend higher education institutions in Oklahoma. Cameron University may nominate up to five students each academic year.

Randy Cumby Tuition Waiver Scholars

These are awarded to incoming transfer students from Western Oklahoma State College who have earned an associate degree with at least a 3.0 GPA.

• Kaycee Finch

Transfer Scholars

These are awarded to incoming students who have completed at least 30 hours of college credit from another university with at least a 3.0 GPA.

Freshman Scholars

Cameron University provides this scholarship for incoming freshmen who achieve high score levels on the ACT or SAT.

Laura Fields Trust Scholars

Excellence in high school academics is recognized through the Laura Fields Trust Scholarship. Each year, Cameron University recognizes two top graduates in Comanche County’s high schools.

C. Glyn and Virginia C. Mitchell Scholars

This scholarship is awarded for up to four qualifying students from Tillman or Cotton counties for four years of education at Cameron University.

McMahon Scholars

The McMahon Foundation of Lawton generously endowed awards this year to Cameron students, and we are proud to recognize these students today. They are chosen from their respective departments for their outstanding scholarship and superior achievement. This group exemplifies the level of excellence all students are encouraged to achieve.

National Merit Foundation Scholarship

Oklahoma’s Promise

Oklahoma Promise students are those who have taken courses and participated in activities in high school to prepare them for college, have had good attendance, and have been good citizens.

Presidential Leaders and University Scholars

The PLUS program nurtures a lifelong commitment to volunteerism and public service. High school seniors may be selected for PLUS on the basis of their academic record, ACT scores, and leadership experiences. Junior or junior transfer scholars may be chosen based upon their academic performance during their first two years in college, along with college leadership activities.

President’s Distinguished Scholars

The President’s Distinguished Scholarship program is a competitive, academic-merit-based program designed to attract top student scholars to Cameron University. The program seeks students with the potential to be academic scholars and intellectual leaders. Scholars are chosen based on a combination of superior intellect and academic achievement; outstanding integrity; excellent written and verbal communications skills; creativity and imagination.

President’s Partners Scholars

The President’s Partners of Cameron University offers scholarships to students who have exhibited academic success while in high school and at Cameron.

Regional University Baccalaureate Scholars

This scholarship provides up to eight semesters of support for Oklahoma students who are pursuing a baccalaureate degree at Cameron University. To qualify students must achieve an exceptional ACT composite score or receive National Merit Semifinalist or Commended recognition.

Valedictorian & Salutatorian Scholars

Cameron University provides scholarships to any incoming student who achieved status as class valedictorian or salutatorian.

Graduate Student Scholars

Cameron University provides scholarships to graduate students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance in undergraduate and graduate studies.
