Peer-Mentor - Student Support Services

The Student Support Services (SSS) Student Peer Mentor position is a part-time position. The SSS Student Peer Mentor will work one-on-one with a diverse population of SSS participants to help them access resources on and off campus. SSS Student Peer Mentors identify and help resolve possible obstacles to student success, work flexible hours to meet students’ schedules, are well organized, and maintain clear and concise documentation on each mentee, along with turning in by the deadline time accrued during the biweekly pay period. SSS Student Peer Mentors attend monthly meetings and training, participate in activities designed to build students’ skills needed to achieve success in a university setting, and are a positive role model for new students joining the SSS Program.

Position is contingent upon receipt of Title IV (TRIO) Federal Funds.

Preferred QUALIFICATIONS

 Graduate student or undergraduate student with at least 30 credit hours completed and an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher. Student Peer Mentor must be enrolled full-time (undergraduate students: 12 or more credit hours; graduate students: 6 or more hours).

Required Qualifications

 The SSS Student Peer Mentor must agree to commit to working with students on a one-on-one basis for a minimum of one (1) school year and to attend monthly group meetings and training to learn activities designed to help first-time freshmen students build skills needed to achieve success in a university setting. The SSS Student Peer Mentor must be well organized in maintaining accurate documentation pertaining to mentoring activities and be able to communicate effectively with a diverse student population. The SSS Student Peer Mentor must maintain accurate documentation of in-person, phone calls, and email contacts.

Preference will be given to students with experience working with SSS student populations.

SALARY RANGE

 $10.00/Hour
