Job Overview
Cameron University is seeking dedicated and reliable Summer Housing Assistants to support the Summer Housing Program. This position is designed for students and offers the opportunity to develop customer service, leadership, and administrative skills in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Summer Compensation:
• Summer Housing waiver provided.
• This position offers a stipend of $125 per week.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service and Operations
• Serve as a knowledgeable resource for summer guests and staff regarding available services and summer operations.
• Maintain proper use of facilities by reporting any maintenance or custodial concerns.
• Wear summer programs assistant apparel and nametag while on duty.
• Greet guests with a positive attitude and provide assistance with inquiries or issues. Prioritize guest needs and escalate concerns as needed.
Administrative and Operational Tasks
• Desk Operations: Work up to 20 hours per week at the desk, assisting with daily operations, including guest check-ins/check-outs, distributing check-in materials and keycards, and maintaining building signage.
• Serving On-Call and Crisis Management: Serve on-call as needed and respond to crises, ensuring that proper actions are taken to maintain safety and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
• Summer Camps and Conferences Assistance: Assist with summer camps and conferences by managing key distribution, handling lockouts, and assisting with other tasks as assigned related to the operations of summer events and programs.
Teamwork and Communication
• Attend and actively participate in weekly staff meetings throughout the summer.
• Be present for all assigned shifts and responsibilities.
• Work cooperatively with fellow student staff members and maintain strong communication across the team.
• Complete other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
• Current Enrollment: Must be a student at Cameron University with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and provide excellent customer service.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Responsible, reliable, and punctual.
• Ability to handle on-call responsibilities and provide assistance during emergencies or issues.
• Previous customer service or student housing experience is preferred.
• Must adhere to strict confidentiality regarding all sensitive information.
• Must comply with the Student Code of Conduct, Housing Code, and University employee protocols. Violations may result in disciplinary action or termination.
• The university reserves the right to terminate this position considering several factors, including job performance, inappropriate behavior, tardiness, and other concerns that may lead to termination.
