Accreditation of degree programs offered by the Cameron University Department of Business has been reaffirmed by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Accreditation by ACBSP certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the business degrees and programs offered through Cameron University meet the organization’s rigorous educational standards.
Accreditation is granted for 10 years. During the intervening years, a quality assurance report is required to be filed every two years. Cameron’s programs have been accredited since 2001.
“Cameron University has shown its commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process,” said ACBSP Chief Accreditation Officer Dr. Steve Parscale. “This reaffirmation of accreditation is evidence that they are committed to maintaining the highest quality business education for their students for the next 10 years.”
As part of the reaffirmation of accreditation, personnel in the Department of Business prepared a self-study which demonstrates and records that it remains in compliance with ACBSP accreditation standards as outlined in the organization’s “Standards and Criteria for Demonstrating Excellence in Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Schools and Programs” document. Following submission of the self-study, the department hosted an evaluation team site visit. The evaluation team then completed its report to ACBSP’s Board of Commissioners, which subsequently re-affirmed Cameron’s accreditation.
“Maintaining degree program accreditation by ACBSP is a critical factor in our commitment to providing quality educational opportunities for business students,” says Dr. Krystal Brue, chair, Department of Business. “Not only do we want our students to succeed in the classroom, we want to prepare them for success after they complete their Cameron degree. Undergoing the reaffirmation process – preparing a self-study and hosting a site evaluation visit – is an excellent tool by which we hold ourselves accountable to ensure our students are receiving the highest quality education possible and are prepared for success in the business community.”
Based on the Baldridge Education Criteria for Performance Excellence, ACBSP accreditation evaluates aspects of leadership, strategic planning, relationships with students and stakeholders, student learning, faculty credentials, curriculum and educational support to determine whether the business programs offer a rigorous educational experience and demonstrate continuous quality improvement.
