Cameron University teams with Marie Detty Youth & Family Services for continuing education workshop focusing on domestic violence


Licensed professional counselors and licensed marriage and family therapists in southwest Oklahoma who are seeking continuing education opportunities will be able to earn up to six hours of continuing education credits during “Domestic Violence: Creating An Ethical Therapeutic Environment.” The one-day training session will be presented by the Cameron University Department of Psychology in partnership with Marie Detty Youth & Family Services on Friday, October 29, in the Johnson Auditorium, located in Ross Hall on the south side of the Cameron University campus in Lawton. As seating is limited, registration is required. Virtual attendance is also available.


Cameron University launches new outdoor Fitness Court®


Cameron University has partnered with the National Fitness Campaign (NFC) to add a sleek and modern outdoor Fitness Court® to its Lawton campus. The Fitness Court® is located adjacent to the Aggie Rec Center on the south side of campus and is only the third Fitness Court® in Oklahoma and the first located in Southwest Oklahoma.


Enrollment for Cameron University Spring 2022 semester begins October 26


Attending Cameron University is more than just taking classes – it’s all about earning a degree that fits your career goals. Beginning on Tuesday, October 26, CU students can take the next step toward degree completion when enrollment opens for the Spring 2022 semester. Tiered enrollment by classification starts on Tuesday, October 26, for graduate students, seniors and honors students. Juniors can enroll on Wednesday, October 27, sophomores on Thursday, October 28, and freshmen on Friday, October 29. Open enrollment for all students begins on Monday, November 1.


Hyunsoon Whang continues performance cycle featuring Beethoven’s piano sonatas


Cameron University professor Hyunsoon Whang will present “Beethoven Sonata Cycle 3,” the third in a series of piano recitals in which she performs select Beethoven sonatas. The recital will take place on Thursday, October 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the University Theatre. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $8 for senior citizens, K-12 students and members of the military. Cameron students, faculty and staff are admitted at no charge with valid ID. To reserve a seat, call 580-581-2346. Facial coverings are strongly encouraged.


Cameron University vocal students to perform Gian Carlo Menotti’s “The Medium”


The Cameron University Department of Art, Music and Theatre Arts Department will present “The Medium,” a one-hour opera featuring CU vocal students. Performances are slated for Thursday and Friday, October 15 and 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the McCutcheon Recital Hall. General admission tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens, military members and students. CU students, faculty and staff are admitted at no charge with CU-ID. As seating is limited, patrons are encouraged to reserve tickets in advance by calling 580-581-2346. Facial covering are strongly recommended.


Artwork by Cameron University’s Jack Crouch selected for national exhibit


When art exhibit juror Liz Trosper was selecting artwork for the fifth annual Center for Contemporary Arts National Juried Competition and Exhibition (CCAN), she included two oil paintings by Cameron faculty member Jack Crouch, an assistant professor of art. The exhibition is presented by the Center for Contemporary Arts in Abilene, Texas, and will be on display through November 27.


Cameron student earns highest degree from Future Farmers of America


Colby Gilpen, a Cameron University sophomore from Faxon, has earned the most prestigious honor bestowed by the Future Farmers of America (FFA), the American FFA degree, which recognizes a member’s dedication to his or her chapter and state FFA association. In addition, it rewards the effort that FFA members apply toward their supervised agricultural experience and the outstanding leadership abilities and community involvement exhibited throughout their FFA career. Gilpen plans to attend the degree ceremony, which takes place during the 94th National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, Ind., from October 27-30.


Cameron University Concert Choir to present Fall 2021 concert


The Cameron University Concert Choir will take the stage at the University Theatre on Thursday, October 7, to present its Fall 2021 concert. The musical event will start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for senior citizens/military/K-12 students. Admission is free to CU students, faculty and staff with CU ID. Seating is limited, so patrons are encouraged to call 580-581-2346 to reserve a seat. Facial coverings are encouraged.
