Cameron University’s Dr. Ioannis Argyros, Professor of Mathematics, has updated “The Theory and Applications of Iteration Methods,” which he co-authored in 1993. The newly released second edition provides a plethora of results on research conducted at Cameron University related to the development of new algorithms used to solve problems from diverse disciplines.
The Cameron University Department of Art, Music and Theatre Arts will present a 2022 senior art exhibition, “Emergence,” at the Leslie Powell Gallery, 620 S.W. D Avenue. An opening reception is planned for Saturday, April 2, at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public at no charge. Artwork on display for the exhibition, which will run through April 30, will be available for purchase.
Cameron University invites adults who have earned college credit but were unable to complete a degree program to attend one of two virtual Reach Higher: Reconnect events, designed to help working adults find the information and resources needed to complete a bachelor’s degree. The virtual sessions are slated for Wednesday, March 30, at from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Thursday, March 31, from 5 to 6 p.m.
“Know No Limits.” That’s the mantra of Oz Sanchez, motivational speaker, retired Marine, Paralympian, Kona Ironman finisher and seven-time world champion, and keynote speaker for CU’s seventh annual Inclusion and Leadership Summit on Friday, April 1. The half-day conference will take place virtually from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is available to the public at no charge.
Cameron University’s annual CU Empowering Women in Leadership and STEM conference, aimed at strengthening the leadership skills of women, will present “Lead Where You’re Planted: Discovering Your Transformational Leadership Strengths and Applying Them Now,” on Wednesday, April 6, in the Shepler Ballroom.
Cameron University is hosting Oklahoma Research Day for the second consecutive year. The event, which celebrates student and faculty research as well as creative and scholarly activities, will take place in a virtual format. The theme for this year’s event is Research, Innovation and Engagement in a Virtual Age.
Cameron University professor Hyunsoon Whang will present “Beethoven Sonata Cycle 4,” the fourth in a series of piano recitals in which she performs select Beethoven sonatas. The recital is set for on Thursday, March 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the McCutcheon Recital Hall, where Whang will perform on a new Steinway piano that was a gift to the university from donors Matt Gaskins and Don Gaskins.
Cameron University’s Magic Lantern Film Society will present a special screening of “The Searchers” with a presentation by Dr. Sara Spurgeon, who will speak on “A Fella Could Mistake You for a Half-Breed: Race, Gender, and Genre in ‘The Searchers.’” The presentation will precede the screening of the 1956 film, which was named the “Greatest American Western” by the American Film Institute. The event takes place on Friday, March 25, at 6:30 p.m. in the McCasland Ballroom of the McMahon Centennial Complex and is open to the public at no charge.
Cameron University’s Bill W. Burgess Jr. Business Research Center (BBRC) will host a business forum on the problems and prospects of renewable energy. The event is slated from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, and will take place in the Mary Lou and W. Carey Johnson Auditorium in Ross Hall. The forum is open to the public at no charge.
