Cameron University’s George D. Keathley Department of Military Science has presented awards and scholarships to members of the Comanche Battalion, Cameron’s Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) unit. The Comanche Battalion recognized cadets for meritorious performance in military science, academics, physical fitness, personal achievement and leadership.
One of the oldest holiday traditions in southwest Oklahoma returns to the stage as The Lawton Schubert Music Club, Fort Sill's New Post Chapel, and the Cameron University/Lawton Civic Chorus present Handel’s “Messiah” on Saturday, December 9, at 7:30 p.m. at the McMahon Auditorium. Admission is free.
The Cameron University Concert Band and the CU Jazz Ensemble will join the Cache High School Band for a program of instrumental Christmas music on Sunday, December 3, at 3 p.m. The concert will take place at the Cache High School Auditorium, 102 W. H Avenue and is open to the public at no charge.
Residents of Southwest Oklahoma and beyond are invited to celebrate the holiday season with festive tree lighting ceremonies hosted by Cameron University at both its Lawton and Duncan campuses. On Monday, November 27, festivities are scheduled at the Lawton campus beginning at 6 p.m. in Bentley Gardens. Cameron University-Duncan’s celebration will take place on Thursday, November 30, starting at 6 p.m. Both events are open to the public at no charge.
Cameron University invites residents of Duncan and the surrounding area to attend the CU-Duncan tree lighting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 30. The event takes place at CU-Duncan, 3100 W. Bois D’Arc Ave. and is open to the public at no charge.
Cameron University will be closed November 22-24 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. No classes will be held during this time, and administrative offices will be closed. Classes will resume and offices re-open for normal business hours on Monday, November 27.
The Cameron University Concert Choir and the Elgin Owl choirs will unite to “Celebrate the Music!”, an evening of holiday music. The free concert is slated for Thursday, November 30, at 7 p.m. and will take place at the Elgin High School Performing Arts Center, located at 520 K Street.
The Cameron University Foundation encourages supporters of Cameron University to participate in Giving Tuesday, a national day of giving. Giving Tuesday, which rallies people around the world to tap into the power of human connection and strengthen communities, takes place on Tuesday, November 28. All gifts received that day will be earmarked for the Aggie Fund, which provides students with scholarships, provides faculty support and helps to enhance campus facilities to provide better learning opportunities.
Vicki Henson, assistant director of financial assistance and coordinator of veterans affairs at Cameron University, was honored during the recent fall conference of the Oklahoma Veteran Education Specialist Association (OVESA). She received a challenge coin by Stephen Rudnick, an approving officer with the State Approving Agency, a division of the Oklahoma State Department of Veterans Affairs, on behalf of the National Association of State Approving Agencies.
