Yuan Ling Looi (Elene) has joined the Cameron University staff as Director of Institutional Effectiveness. As the chief data officer for the university, Looi ensures the integrity of data and information released in reports and studies. She provides leadership for and manages all necessary functions relating to the collection, organization, maintenance, sharing, analysis and interpretation of data for both internal and external constituencies.
Her duties include coordination and management of an institution-wide data strategy; providing data to internal constituents to support data-driven decision making, assessment, grants and other functions to promote institutional effectiveness; and providing quantitative and qualitative research and analysis to support evidence-based planning and decision making. She also monitors the overall integrity of data as well as compliance with state and federal requirements.
Additional responsibilities include providing data literacy training and support for all campus stakeholders; oversight of the submission of reports and surveys to state and federal agencies, the Board of Regents, accreditors and other external constituencies; providing data and document support for accreditation efforts; administering, analyzing and sharing data from designated university-wide surveys, currently including the National Survey of Student Engagement; and managing the internal assessment process, including training in assessment for various constituents and conducting meetings to discuss assessment with departments and units.
Looi was previously Director of Institutional Research at Blackburn College in Carlinville, Ill. She earned a Master of Arts in Social Psychology from the University of Northern Iowa and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Bemidji State University. She offers expertise in numerous research and data applications as well as in both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
