Cameron sets room and board rates for 2024-25

Cameron University has set room and board rates for the 2024-25 academic year. Approved by the Board of Regents for the University of Oklahoma, Cameron University and Rogers State University, the new rates will be effective August 1, 2024.

“Cameron University continues to be one of the most affordable options for a college degree in Oklahoma,” says John McArthur, president. “Like last year, inflation is above average, resulting in increasing utility and food costs. Implementing a modest increase in rates ensures that we will continue to provide a great student experience, maintain our residential properties and guarantee the availability of food services.”

Housing rates for the 2024-25 academic year in the Shepler Center will remain unchanged, while rates in the Cameron Village apartments will increase by an average of three percent, with plans starting at $3,240 per semester. The increase will allow the University to provide the required maintenance for these facilities while maintaining an affordable living environment. All semester rates include parking, unlimited laundry, television and internet, as well as membership in the Residence Hall Association. Cameron’s apartments and residence hall rates remain lower than the rates of similar facilities at peer institutions.

Residential meal plans for 2024-25 will increase by six percent and will start as low as $1,460 per semester. Over the past few years, Cameron’s food service costs have increased between five percent and ten percent each year as inflation continues to impact food prices. The rate increase will ensure student access to quality food at times convenient to them and to offset increased costs associated with the university’s food services contract.

Students who live on campus are required to have a meal plan. Plans are also available for commuter students and start as low as $105 per semester. All plans have a variety of options to meet individual needs. The plans ensure CU students have access to balanced and nutritional meals during the semester.

According to the College Board, the average annual cost of room and board at public four-year, in-state universities in 2023-24 was $12,770. In Oklahoma, the average is $9,219, according to the Education Data Initiative. CU’s proposed FY25 room and board rates (Shepler double room rate with 8-flex meal plan, the lowest standard rate) are 46.2 percent lower than the national average and 25.4 percent lower than the Oklahoma average for public, four-year universities.
