Almost 400 students from more than 50 Oklahoma high schools made up the 97 teams that participated in Cameron University’s annual Agriculture Interscholastic Meet on April 7. The event helps agriculture students hone their skills in areas ranging from practical animal science and agronomy to leadership and business while it prepares the students for the state competition. Cameron has hosted the meet for more than 50 years.
“After cancelling last year’s event due to the pandemic, Cameron University was thrilled to be able to host the annual Agriculture Interscholastic meet this year,” says Dr. Terry Conley, event organizer. “The participation was tremendous. It’s obvious that agricultural endeavors will continue to play a significant role in Oklahoma’s economy, based on the number of high school students who took advantage of this opportunity. Cameron is proud to continue one of its long-standing agriculture traditions, and we look forward to hosting the event for years to come.”
