Cameron University has joined the Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP), a recruitment and referral program managed by the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Defense. The program connects federal and private-sector employers nationwide with highly motivated college students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to demonstrate their abilities in the workplace through summer or permanent jobs.
Candidates apply to the WRP each fall through participating campuses such as Cameron and can receive elective informational interviews with federal employees who serve as volunteer recruiters.
Current CU students and alumni who graduated after April 1, 2021, are eligible to apply. Candidates must be U.S. citizens who are eligible for the federal Schedule A Hiring Authority, a non-competitive hiring process used by federal agencies to hire persons with disabilities.
Registration, which requires a resume and a college transcript, can be completed at https://www.wrp.gov. The deadline to apply is Thursday, October 12. Once a student or recent alumnus applies, a representative from the U.S. Department of Labor will contact CU’s program coordinate, Vicki Henson. Henson will then facilitate a virtual appointment for the applicant to meet with personnel from the Department of Labor. During the appointment, applicants will gain interviewing experience, explore government career options, learn about internship or long-term job opportunities at federal agencies, and more.
For more information about WPR, contact Vicki Henson at (580) 581-2301 or vickih@cameron.edu.
