Cameron University has announced organizational changes in several academic departments beginning June 1.
Effective June 1, Dr. Kirsten Underwood will assume the position of chair in the Department of Art, Music and Theatre Arts. An associate professor of music, she joined the Cameron faculty in 2003.
Several appointments will become effective on August 1. Dr. Stacie Garrett will become chair in the Department of Education. She has served as an assistant professor since joining the faculty in 2013.
Dr. Melissa Thacker will take on the role of chair in the Department of Sports and Exercise Science. She joined the faculty in 2017 and is an assistant professor.
Dr. Von Underwood will step down from his current role as dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. He will assume responsibilities as chair of the Department of Communication, English and Foreign Languages beginning August 1.
Dr. Jennifer Dennis, dean of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies, will also serve as acting dean for the School of Arts and Sciences, effective June 1.
Additionally, the Department of Computing and Technology will merge with the Department of Mathematical Sciences to form the Department of Computing and Mathematical Sciences under the leadership of Dr. Muhammad Javed as chair.
