Cameron University has been selected for inclusion on MilitarySupportiveColleges.com’s Select Schools – Central Editor’s Pick list. CU is one of only two regional, public universities chosen by the digital platform’s editors. According to the site, all schools selected go the extra mile toward making vets and active duty military students feel at home and offer the extra support those students need to transition to higher education from military service.
Criteria for selection includes offering Yellow Ribbon program funding to all qualified applicants as well as covering all tuition costs about GI Bill® limits; offering tuition and fee discounts to active duty personnel, veterans, or their families; and providing scholarship opportunities for those not fully covered by official education benefits. Other criteria include recognizing military training and experience in the form of college credit awards; and delivering dedicated counseling and academic advisory services.
MilitarySupportiveColleges.com recognizes CU’s commitment to student service members, Guardsmen, reservists, veterans, and their family members, citing a dedicated faculty and staff (many of whom are military service members, veterans, and spouses). The digital site also highlights that CU offers a military-inclusive community that features a VA work-study program, a Tragedy Assistance Program for survivors, focus groups that help improve VA educational benefits, an active Student Veterans of America chapter, waived application and testing fees for active duty service members and more.
