The Cameron University art program will host two summer camps for children, with multiple sessions available. Creative Expressions: Art in the Afternoon 2024 is geared toward children ranging from age 6 to 12, and the Fine Arts Summer Art Institute is for children age 13 to 18. Creative Expressions: Art in the Afternoon 2024
Session I: June 3-6 and June 10-13
Session II: June 17-20 and June 24-27
Session III: July 1,2,3 and July 8-11
Session IV: July 15-18 and July 22-25
2 to 5 p.m. / Age groups: 6, 7 & 8, 9 &10, 11 & 12
Fee: $135 per session (first child); 20% discount for each additional child ($108) per family

Location: Cameron University Art Building
Comprised of four two-week art workshops, Creative Expressions Summer Art Camp helps students explore their creative expression through visual art. Each session is unique, featuring a variety of creative opportunities.
Participants will attend three art classes daily, including traditional art media such as painting, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture and paper and bookmaking as well as developing creative expression through the computer by learning how to translate an idea into digital art. The projects are designed to develop technical skill in the handling of art media and thinking skills in decision-making and composition. All art supplies are provided. Each child will design an art portfolio to collect artworks from each class throughout the session and digital artwork will be printed.
Fine Arts Summer Art Institute 2024

Session II: Digital Art - Fridays, July 5, 12, 19 & 26
9 a.m. to Noon / Ages: 13-18
Fee: $40 per Session (4 classes each)
Location: Cameron University Art Building (Session I) and Nance-Boyer Room 1029 (Session II)
Session I - DRAWING AND PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT
Students will participate in a variety of drawing assignments under the direction of professional artists. These workshops are specifically designed to increase student's perceptual observation skills through various drawing techniques with traditional media including graphite, charcoal and conte’. Areas of artistic development will include drawing (the merits of a sketchbook), traditional subject matter (still life and figure), interaction of drawing and design, and abstraction and thematic variations. Drawing materials that will be provided include a spiral bound sketchbook; drawing paper; ebony, graphite, charcoal pencils and kneaded erasers.
Session II: DIGITAL ART PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT
Students will be introduced to several graphic software programs. They will learn the tools of Photoshop and Illustrator and produce computer-generated imagery. Computer graphics and image enhancement, aesthetics and technology will be emphasized.
